Department of SHALAKYA TANTRA
Introduction
The Department of shalakya Tantra deals with the study and treatment of diseases related to eyes, ears, nose, throat, mouth, and head as
described in Ayurveda. It is one of the important branches of Astanga Ayurveda. The department provides theoretical and practical teaching to undergraduate students as per the NCISM prescribed syllabus. Students are trained in the diagnosis, prevention, and Ayurvedic management of ENT and eye disorders, with correlation to modern medical knowledge. Clinical services are provided through OPD and IPD, where patients are treated using Ayurvedic medicines and procedures such as Nasya, Anjana, Netra Kriyakalpas, Karnapuraṇa, Ganduṣa, and Kavala. The main aim of the department is to develop competent Ayurvedic graduates with good clinical skills and a holistic approach in managing
diseases of the head and neck region.

 Practical and clinical demonstrations related to Netra, Karṇa, Nasa,
Mukha, and Kaná¹­ha Rogas
ï‚· Teaching of Ayurvedic diagnostic methods and modern
examination techniques
ï‚· Demonstration and practice of shalakya Tantra procedures such as
Nasya, Anjana, Karnapuraṇa, and Netra Kriyakalpas
ï‚· Integrated teaching with modern ENT and ophthalmology
correlations
ï‚· Clinical case discussions and bedside teaching
ï‚· Student participation in seminars, quizzes, and group discussions
ï‚· Periodic internal assessments and practical evaluations
